The schedule or classes will display the status of a class: Open, Closed, or Wait List. If a class is full and a waitlist is available, the class status displays as a yellow triangle and the class details display the waitlist capacity. If a class is full and there is no waitlist, the class status displays as a blue box and the class details display the waitlist capacity as zero.
If a class is full and a waitlist is available, the class status displays as a yellow triangle. Select the class, check the box to "Waitlist if class is full”, then continue enrolling.
You can view your waitlisted classes on your class schedule in my.unt.edu.
You may waitlist up to 9 credit hours during the Fall and Spring term and 4 credit hours during each summer session. Please note: Regardless of how many units you are waitlisted for, you will not be enrolled in classes beyond the maximum number of credit hours permitted for the term.
Waitlisted courses are not considered for official enrollment, therefore they do not count towards full time status nor calculated in tuition and fee bills.
Yes, you can waitlist for multiple sections of the same class. The waitlist process will enroll you in the section that has the first available seat.
Please note if you subsequently drop yourself from a waitlist when you are on the waitlist for multiple sections of the same class, you may be removed from all the waitlists for the same course.
If you are already enrolled in a section of a class and you want to be on the waitlist of another section, use the SWAP feature. (see FAQ 9).
If you wish to remain enrolled in your current section until space becomes available in the closed section, enroll in the waitlisted section using the “SWAP” feature (see #9).
Yes, you can waitlist for time conflicted classes, but you will not be moved off of the waitlist until the time conflict has been resolved. If you wish to remain enrolled in your current course until space becomes available in the closed course, enroll using the “SWAP” feature (see #9).
Swap allows you to remain in one class while waitlisted in a second class. If you are enrolled from the waitlist, the original class will be dropped. Swap should be used in the following scenarios:
The waitlist process is scheduled to run three times a day. If a seat opens in a class the class will remain closed until after the waitlist process has completed. If there are no students on the waitlist, the class will reopen after the process has completed. If there are students on the waitlist, the next student on the list will be enrolled in the class and the class will remain closed.
The requirements to be moved off of a waitlist are the same as standard enrollment:
Yes, you must remove yourself from a waitlist by performing a drop from the waitlist.
Waitlists are only available once the class has reached its enrollment capacity. For high-demand classes, this may be the first day of registration, while for other classes, it can be as late as the Add/Drop period.
Students can add themselves to waitlists through the last day of the Add/Drop period.
You should check your myUNT class schedule (and include Waitlisted Classes). An email will also be sent to your official UNT campus email address if you are enrolled in a class from the wait list.
As long as you are on a waitlist, you should monitor your class schedule frequently.
