Undergraduate Student Advising

New students - you will meet with your advisor when you attend UNT's mandatory Orientation.

Current or returning students - you can schedule a 30-minute appointment, in-person in Discovery Park E201, or virtually on Zoom.

NOTE: If you are changing your major from a different college, you must have a minimum 2.0 UNT GPA to be accepted to an engineering major, unless you are a new student (so you don’t have a UNT GPA yet).

Your Degree Audit is the official tool for tracking completion of degree requirements, helping you stay on track for graduation and helping you prepare for advising appointments. You can even run a “what if” degree audit for all the majors across campus to help explore degree options. Guided Pathways are plans for students in the UNT-TWU program and students transferring from a community college available at https://engineering.unt.edu/support/undergraduate-pathways.html.

If a course has a requisite (prerequisite, corequisite, TSI restricted section, other restriction), you must meet the requisite to enroll. If you meet the prerequisite or corequisite, but you receive an “Requisite Not Met” message, then MyUNT may not be recognizing the requisite on your account. This is common if the requisite was taken in transfer or earned via AP, IB, CLEP or other credit by exam.

If you receive an “Requisite Not Met” message in error, you must contact the academic unit that teaches the course via an Override Request. The academic unit will review your request and allow enrollment if they confirm that you meet the requisite.

NOTE: Advisors do not receive or process Override Requests. Advisors do not enroll students into courses.

• BIOL Course Override: Complete this form (pdf) and email it to Biology@unt.edu
• BMEN Course Override: Email Isabel.Chavez@unt.edu with your name, ID number, and the course/section you're wanting to enroll in. Include proof of prerequisite (official transcript, unofficial transcript, etc.) which includes letter grade if prerequisite is taken outside of UNT.
• CHEM Course Override: Email chem-advising@unt.edu with your name, ID number, and the course/section you’re wanting to enroll in. Include proof of prerequisite (official transcript, unofficial transcript, etc.)
• CMGT Course Override: Submit request at https://engineering.unt.edu/me/undergraduate/resources.html
• CNET Course Override: Submit request at https://engineering.unt.edu/me/undergraduate/resources.html
• CSCE Course Override: Submit request at https://engineering.unt.edu/cse/students/resources/override.html
• EENG Course Override: Submit request at https://engineering.unt.edu/ee/undergraduate/resources.html
• ENGR Course Override: Submit request at https://engineering.unt.edu/me/undergraduate/resources.html
• MATH Course Override: Submit request at https://cos.unt.edu/math/undergraduate/overrides.html. Include proof of prerequisite which includes letter grade, credit earned, or test placement score. Examples of proof include an official transcript, an unofficial transcript, AP score, etc. Note that an override cannot be granted until you complete the course with a final letter grade if you are concurrently enrolled in the prerequisite at another school.

Examples of proof include an official transcript, an unofficial transcript, AP score, etc. Note that an override cannot be granted until you complete the course with a final letter grade if you are concurrently enrolled in the prerequisite at another school.
• STAT Course Override: Email analytics@unt.edu with your name, ID number, and the course/section you’re wanting to enroll in. Include proof of prerequisite (official transcript, unofficial transcript, etc.)
• TECM Course Override: Contact tcoffice@unt.edu with your name, ID number, and the course/section you are wanting to enroll in. Include proof of prerequisite (official transcript, unofficial transcript, etc.)
