International Partnerships

Our international partnership agreements provide a pathway for students from select international universities to earn an advanced degree from UNT. Please contact Kathryn.Beasley@unt.edu or GlobalPartnerships@unt.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

Partner universities and programs

Earn a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in five years through our 3+2 and 3.5+1.5 international partnership programs. Our current partner universities and the corresponding MS program are listed below.

3+2 partnerships

  • Nanjing Forestry University (Computer Science MS, Mechanical and Energy Engineering MS)
  • Kunming University of Science and Technology (Computer Science MS, Computer Engineering MS)
  • South China Normal University (Electrical Engineering MS)

MS + PhD partnerships

  • Northwestern Polytechnical University (Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D.)

Admissions

MS 3+X eligibility requirements

To be eligible, UNT must have an agreement with the student’s home institution for the international partnership program. The student should also do the following:

  1. The student has to apply to the specified degree program included in the agreement between UNT and the student’s home institution.
  2. Meet all UNT’s admission requirements to be eligible to participate in the program.

MS 3+X application instructions

  1. Notify the Office of Global Partnerships and Engagement of your intent to apply by emailing Amanda.White@unt.edu. In the subject line, please indicate you are a 3+2 applicant
  2. Scan the following documents to Amanda.White@unt.edu:
    • Transcript(s)
    • English language proficiency scores
  3. Apply for graduate admission
    • Application: Students must apply online at: www.applytexas.org.
      1. The priority deadline is April 1st for a fall semester start date.
      2. The priority deadline is October 15th for a spring semester start date.
    • Transcripts:
      1. Students must submit transcripts to Toulouse Graduate School. The mailing address for official transcripts is below. Scanned copies can be sent to international@unt.edu.
      2. The document must be in the students’ native language and in English. The English translation must be from the university/academic institution or be a certified translation.
      3. The transcripts must include an official seal and/or signature from the appropriate school officer, include an issue date, and be in a sealed envelope.
      4. While unofficial copies of transcripts can be used for admission purposes, official copies are required once students are admitted.

    • English language proficiency
      1. Students must have their official scores sent directly to UNT.
        1. IELTS: 6.0 or higher for the overall band
        2. TOEFL: 79 (internet-based), 550 (paper-based)
        3. Pearson’s PTE: 53 or higher
  4. Apply to the academic department
    • Students must submit all required application materials to their academic department.

    • Students must submit all required application materials to their academic department, which include a statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation, and a resume. These documents can be uploaded online.
