Abstract: 

With the advent of disruptive digital technologies, companies are facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Advanced manufacturing systems are of paramount importance in making key enabling technologies and new products more competitive, affordable and accessible as well as fostering their economic and social impact. This seminar work will provide insights into the latest developments and research in Data-driven Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing, including experiences of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Production, World Manufacturing Forum, and several Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Industry-Academia collaboration projects.

Biography: 

Gökan MAY is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida, and Editorial Board Member of the World Manufacturing Forum. Before joining UNF, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (2015-2020), and a Fellow of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Production (2018-2020). He received his Ph.D. in 2014 (Summa Cum Laude) and M.Sc. degree in 2010 (with Highest Honours) in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. During 2013, he worked as a Researcher at the Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. His major fields of research in the main area of data-driven smart and sustainable manufacturing include energy efficient manufacturing, zero-defect manufacturing, and predictive maintenance. Dr. Gökan May has published more than 35 papers in international journals and conference proceedings and has been involved in several industry-academia collaboration projects.
