Recently, undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Engineering swept the awards at the third annual STLE North Texas Student Paper Symposium. Teams from all across the north Texas region competed in a poster event where students were asked to discuss and present their novel research in the area of tribology and lubrication engineering to a group of industry representatives.
Kelly Jacques, Andre Montagnoli and Alex Berendt took first, second, and third place, respectively, in the undergraduate competition. Asghar Shirani, Said Bakkar, and Tonoy Chowdhury took first, second and third place in the graduate competition.
“The judges were very impressed by the work our students do,” said Diana Berman, an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering who organized the symposium. “I think it speaks highly of our students and what they’re gaining from their education and their time here at UNT.”
