Hylium Industries, Inc. is developing a fuel cell power pack for drones which is based on the technologies related to liquid hydrogen. Thanks to higher gravimetric energy density of liquid hydrogen, drones can keep much longer flight endurance, compared to the existing Li-Po battery or power pack with gas hydrogen. Hylium Industries, Inc. has proved its top liquefaction technology receiving the Russel B. Scott Memorial Award from the Cryogenic Engineering Conference held in USA in 2015.
Dr. Kim established Hylium Industries, Inc. in 2014, which is a hydrogen venture company spun-off from KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology) in Korea. He worked for KIST for 20 years as a researcher, a professor, and an R&D director at Center for Urban Energy Systems. He published 31 international SCI papers and 20 technical patents.
