Dr. Xiao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at
the University of North Texas. Before her appointment at UNT, she was an tenure-track
assistant professor in the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Department at
Miami University after her PhD. Dr. Xiao's research lies in developing computational
autonomous robotic additive/hybrid manufacturing processes, which NSF and US Army
funded. Other research interests mainly include in-situ multi-dimensional structure-process-quality
interactions and control in AM/HM, multi-purpose functional graded material structure
development, and AM-driven self-morphing designs and control. She has wide industry
collaborations, for example, DMG Mori, SLM Solutions, and DM3D, to fund her current
work. Dr. Xiao has authored and co-authored over 20 journal papers, including Additive
Manufacturing and the CIRP journal. Her research findings have been widely reported
by Science Daily, Design News, 3D printing industry, Fabbaloo and etc.
