Mechanical Engineering’s undergraduate Ozioma Ozigbo, a senior pursuing a mechanical & energy engineering degree, is on the rise.
Born and raised in Nigeria, Ozigbo’s family and experiences attending boarding school reinforced the values of discipline, excellence, responsibility and integrity, which have provided the foundation for Ozigbo to achieve her goals.
“I love to dance, act, write and listen to podcasts, and UNT has given me the opportunity to explore a lot of my different passions,” said Ozigbo.
From joining the dance team for the Nigerian Student Organization and performing in UNT’s communications department show, “Tip Toe,” to now serving as the vice-president of UNT’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and secretary of UNT’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASE), Ozigbo’s passion and desire to constantly keep learning and pushing herself has kept her active.
An active member of the UNT SWE Section for over a year now serving first as the Head of Public Relations and this year serving as the vice-president of UNT SWE Ozigbo’s passion for leadership and serving others really shines.
“I organized social events within our section and among other engineering organizations to help improve our community. I also revived the UNT SWE blog by consistently posting every other week. I started a new segment on our blog called ‘Female Engineer of the Month’ to serve as a source of inspiration for our members. During that year, I also won the outstanding officer award,” said Ozigbo.
