Diana Berman, an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was designated a Presidential Early Career Professor by the University of North Texas.
Berman joined UNT in 2016, bringing with her a wealth of expertise in tribology. Her work to better understand friction, adhesion, and wear of materials has led to the development of novel wear-resistant protective materials that reduce glass reflection or can repel water and of new biolubricants that outperform traditionally used petroleum oil.
“Diana has made outstanding contributions to the field of tribology and has been an inspiration here at UNT Engineering,” said Hanchen Huang, dean of the College of Engineering. “This honor is so well-deserved!”
Berman will receive $50,000 in research support as part of her new designation and will be honored this April at the Salute to Faculty Excellence Awards dinner.
