UNT Engineering, College of Science, Interdisciplinary Program in Analytics & Computational Science, and New College will present the 2019 AI & Data Science Summit Oct. 11.
The AI & Data Science Summit, held at UNT's Frisco campus, will highlight the importance of the analytics ecosystem, comprising of large companies, government agencies, entrepreneurs, and universities, in working together to sustain innovation and profitable applications of AI and data science.
The free all-day summit opens at 8:15 a.m., with the program beginning at 9 a.m. at UNT New College, 2811 Internet Blvd Suite 100 in Frisco.
The morning keynote will be delivered by UNT alumnus David Copps, who has established himself as successful entrepreneur in the field of artificial intelligence. Copps will discuss the challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in AI and Big Data. His talk will be followed by a panel discussion with regional entrepreneurs entitled, "Living On the Edge: Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Exploiting Data & AI."
The lunch keynote will be presented by Tuell Green, managing director of Operations Research & Advanced Analytics at American Airlines. A follow-up panel of industry leaders from Toyota, American Airlines and Charles Schwab will discuss AI and data science applications in their businesses, the skillsets they are looking for when hiring, and how students should prepare for careers in analytics.
Afternoon breakout sessions will include conversations on regional smart city initiatives, healthcare analytics and cybersecurity.
There will be networking opportunities throughout the day, as well as a reception following the summit.
