The University of North Texas Cyber Clinic offers pro bono cybersecurity services
to local small businesses, nonprofits, and public sector organizations that lack internal
resources or need to augment their existing cybersecurity capabilities. Services include:
Asset Inventory, Access and Authorization Control, Network Security Configuration,
Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Vulnerability Scanning, Security Policy Creation.
Request Services
Eligibility to Request Services
- Must be based in the DFW metroplex.
- Must be a small business, nonprofit, or public sector organization.
- Ideal clients have fewer than 40 employees and limited or no dedicated IT or cybersecurity
staff.
- Must commit 3-6 hours of staff time per week to coordinate with the clinic during
the semester.
- No prior cybersecurity knowledge is required.
What You Get
- A 30-minute on-site, non-technical security briefing tailored to your organization.
- On-site visit (2-3 hours) by a team of 4-5 students.
- Review of Wi-Fi, point-of-sale, backups, software updates, and passwords.
- Clear report with quick, budget-friendly fixes.
- Zero sales pitch, 100% community service.

Volunteers
Student Volunteers
- Must be a current UNT student.
- Must be enrolled in the 3-credit CSCE 4930 course during the semester.
- Should demonstrate teamwork, an interest in cybersecurity, and a commitment to strengthening
Texas cyber resilience.
- No prior cybersecurity experience is required.
Student Mentors
- Must be a cybersecurity professional living and working in Texas.
- Must be available to advise student teams for approximately 1 hour per week during
the semester.
