Micah Mosley received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical and Energy Engineering in 2012. Since graduating from UNT he has worked at Huntsman Petrochemical Company in Port Neches, Texas where he is currently an Operations Manager.
I was hired by Huntsman as a mechanical project engineer in 2012 and have done stints as a project engineer, process engineer, and maintenance engineer. I am currently employed as the Operations Manager for Huntsman's Utility and Wastewater Department at our site in Port Neches, Texas where we make the building block chemicals for products that go in items used everyday - soaps, foams, makeup, antifreeze, gas additives, etc. Our Utility and Wastewater Units are filled with boilers, gas turbines, compressors, steam turbines, pumps, exchangers, and everything else that makes it a mechanical engineering playground.
My degree from UNT provided me with the tools and knowledge of different concepts and principles necessary to be successful in the petrochemical industry. When I first hired on with Huntsman in 2012, I was amazed at how well my degree from UNT prepared me for my career. I take so much pride in being a graduate from UNT.
Being on a team that has steadily improved the reliability of our Utility equipment that's led to continuously improving uptime and availability of our process units.
I've really taken an interest in wastewater treatment and find it very fascinating. Environmental compliance is critical to a company's success.
Academically: Fluids. Life: Perseverance and diligence.
I loved having a group of MEEN friends that had a blast together and always wanted to excel in MEEN projects and coursework. From the early dinners at sushi cafe before DVC class, or the late nights for senior design, to exploring the basement and rocket tunnels of Discovery Park. We had a lot of fun. Too many to name one or think of them all.
To continue waking up early and enjoy going to work. I love the challenges my job brings every day.
Engineering degrees are not easy. Bring a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. Don't get down if you struggle with a concept at first, just keep plugging away. Once you graduate from UNT, take pride in your school and degree and take a back seat to no one.
