The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of our Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program (BSEE) are as follows:
Our graduates will become productive and valuable professionals in Electrical Engineering and related fields.
Our first PEO consists of producing graduates who will become productive and valuable professionals in Electrical Engineering and related fields. This objective coincides with UNT's objective to prepare students to become thoughtful, engaged citizens of the world. The skills taught by the Electrical Engineering Department and the other departments of the university combine to create well-rounded graduates who are prepared to excel in future endeavors.
Our graduates will engage in lifelong learning demonstrated by advanced education/degrees, professional development activities, and/or other career-enhancing activities.
PEO 2 regards the EE department's commitment to producing students who will engage in a life full of learning and seeking answers. This PEO aligns with UNT's mission to produce dedicated scholars by encouraging students to continue to seek out and absorb information long after they take their final college exam.
Our graduates will be successful in taking leadership roles at various levels in their professional careers in academia or industry.
The EE department's third PEO relates ensuring the success of our graduates in embracing leadership roles in their careers. This undertaking is consistent with the University's mission of preparing students to collaborate with community members on local and global scales to produce and share knowledge.
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science with a major in Electrical Engineering program, students will be able to achieve the following outcomes:
Our program constituencies are:
Our first PEO of producing educational excellence graduates who will become productive and valuable professionals in Electrical Engineering and related fields is useful to both our students and the industries located in the North Texas metroplex. PEO 1 benefits students by helping them reach improved employment potential; the benefit to local industry will be availability of an experienced work force, hence minimal costs for training and orientation efforts. Finally, our faculty will benefit from the University-Industry collaborative research efforts that can be launched through the influence of our successful graduates.
Our second PEO of having our graduates engage in lifelong learning will train students to adapt to the rapidly-changing technological environment. Additionally, the second PEO will cultivate a pool of trained, qualified individuals from which local or global industries can hire.
It is represented primarily by our departmental Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) and, in general, by the College of Engineering Advisory Board (CEAB).
Finally, the third PEO of having our graduates successful in taking leadership roles not only meets the needs of our students aspiring a successful career path, but also helps our faculty to receive funding for University-Industry collaborative research projects, which in turn benefits local industry.
