Materials Processing, Additive Manufacturing, Light Metals Failure Analysis
Bio:
Dr. Sameehan S. Joshi completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from
the University of North Texas in 2017, where he analyzed various laser-processed structural
materials using an integrated experimental and computational approach. He employed
laser processing in applications such as the synthesis of surface coatings, laser
aided machining, and additive manufacturing. Before Ph.D., Dr. Joshi did his master’s
in Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in
2012 where his research focused on the development of squeeze cast structural magnesium
alloys. He completed bachelor’s in Metallurgical Engineering from College of Engineering
Pune, India in 2009. Dr. Joshi is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas.
He has also worked as a Senior Metallurgical Engineer in the automobile industry,
mainly focusing on laser and binder based additive manufacturing techniques to produce
automotive components. To date he has co-authored 1 book, 3 book chapters in ASM Handbook
Series, and 50 + peer-reviewed journal papers related to advanced materials processing.
