Biography

Dr. Siller is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Programs. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Technology Innovation from Jaume I University, Spain and holds a master's and a bachelor's degree from Monterrey Tech, Mexico, in the fields of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering, respectively. Before his appointment at UNT, he was director of the Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems at Monterrey Tech and full-time faculty member at the same university. His research areas include advanced manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing, micro-manufacturing and metrology. His teaching experience (+15 yrs.) includes courses in the fields of Manufacturing Automation and Industrial Metrology among others, and during his career he has advised more than 30 graduate students and has published around 80 research papers in journals and conference proceedings. He received grants from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense among other agencies.



Research

Dr. Siller’s research group focused on advanced manufacturing and metrology. In specific, he and his students are working on different research projects involving the following topics:

Surface mechanics of additively manufactured materials
Biomimetic meta-materials and lattice-based structural optimization
Surface design of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for aeroacoustics
Adaptive control of hybrid manufacturing toward Industry 4.0
