Materials science professor received early career award

College of Engineering

Diana BermanDiana Berman, assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, recently received the Early Career Award from the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE).

The award is given to young academic professionals who have made outstanding research contributions in the field of tribology and who demonstrate promise for future contributions to the field.

Berman’s research focuses primarily on studying fundamental aspects of the physical interactions of liquids in contact with 2D materials as well as on analyzing the influence of liquids on the 2D-material-underlying substrate. In February 2017, she organized the first tribology workshop and poster presentation, attracting many local industry representatives.

Winners were awarded in May at the 73rd STLE Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Minneapolis, Minn.
