Dr. Choi’s primary research focus includes biological energy transport during ultrafast laser irradiation and stress generation mechanisms in biological tissue; explosive phase changes in micro/nano scales; femtosecond laser spectroscopy and ultrafast microscopy; micropipette biological sensors for laser-cell interaction studies; and nano manufacturing using focused ion beam lithography.
He received a B.A. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley.
Dr. Choi has published approximately 20 journal papers in his career.
