Al Attah

Aloysius Attah

Aloysius (Al) Attah is a scholar-practitioner with over thirty years of academic and industry experience. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas. His academic background includes civil engineering, industrial engineering, and information systems management. Al has been a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) since 1992. He spent 17 years with Boeing supporting the design and manufacture of 737, 747, 757, 767, and 777 airplane programs. In 2007, he founded Macval Associates LLC - an engineering and construction firm based in Dallas, Texas. Al is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE). He was a national president of the Construction Division of IISE. Some of his honors and awards include Industrial Engineer of the year; IISE gold award for leadership; outstanding performance awards from Boeing; teaching excellence honors; and community service awards. Al is inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society which recognizes high standard of scholastic achievement, and an ethos of integrity, innovation, respect, collaboration, and diversity.

Fernando Ceballos

Fernando is a Professional Civil Engineer in Texas and works on commercial land development projects throughout the state as a consultant. As a 2013 graduate from Texas A&M University, Fernando has had an opportunity to work on schools, various commercial sites, apartment complexes, and residential master planned communities. Fernando is also a career coach and host of the Dealing with Life Stuff Podcast. Through his community involvement, he currently serves as the SHPE DFW Chapter President, sits on TREC Young Gun Committee, ASCE National Committee of Pre-College outreach and serves on the Advisory board at a local high school. Fernando was part of the 2017 Coors Light Lideres, 2018 ASCE’s New Faces of Civil Engineering and featured in the 2018 Class of Dallas Weekly’s Millennials to Watch.

Jonathon Montez Cerda

Jonathon is a servant leader who is passionate about helping underrepresented communities with STEM enablement. He is currently focusing on helping students that are enrolled in University curriculum and those who are looking to transition from the service industry to a technical career.  Jonathon is an electrical engineer by education with research experience in computer vision and image processing. While attending school he served as the President of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at UNT. He now works as a solutions engineer on the Virtual Sales Engineering team at Splunk.

Nandika D'Souza

Nandika Anne D’Souza is Regents Professor (2015-present) of Mechanical and Energy Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas. She is focused on broadening participation in engineering at various levels. . She has co-authored 6 book chapters, 78 peer reviewed journal and 96 conference proceedings publications. She has received $5.7 M in external research funding. She was recognized as a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers (one of 307 in the world) in 2013. She received the 2015 Distinguished Engineering Educator Award by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) based on her efforts to be inclusive. She is a NSBE Life member #310, SWE Life member and Girl Scouts Life member.

Greg Hutton

Greg Hutton is a Corporate Technology leader at Verizon responsible for global IP network design, architecture and new technology introduction for Verizon’s VoIP Network & Private Cloud Platform (VCP). Greg is an advocate, mentor and perpetual sponsor for Verizon’s summer intern, campus direct and Verizon Leadership Development Programs (VLDP). He serves on eight (8) NAF advisory boards in Dallas where he’s developed annual Verizon work-based learning (WBL) initiatives, programming and scholarships serving NAF students. Greg is a LIFE Member (#333) of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), an active executive board member of the NSBEDFW Professionals Chapter, Verizon’s Black Resource Association of Verizon Employees (VZ-BRAVE) and Dallas ISD Career and Technology Education Industry Leadership Council (CTE ILC). Greg earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management (KGSM) and a PMP (#233917) from PMI. He has been recognized with numerous Verizon spotlight, service, and leadership awards including two (2) Verizon Credo Awards for leadership excellence in network security & National Academy Foundation (NAF) program development - Verizon’s highest honor. He’s also been recognized nationally as a NAF Advisory Board Champion, NAF Leadership Fellow and the first Verizon graduate of the IT Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) Management Academy. Stephanie Ludi

Stephanie Ludi is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas.  Dr. Ludi has lead efforts in broadening participation in computing with students at all levels, as well as working with K12 teachers.  She has 55 publications, and has received over $3.6M in external research funding.  She is a Senior Member in IEEE Computer Society, and has received the AccessComputing Capacity Building Award in 2011.

Laura Itzel Lujan is a third year undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering at University of North Texas. She is President of UNT's Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers chapter and plans to strive for an Electrical Hardware Design post graduation while remaining involved in her community. She has been an active member of the organization since 2019 and has taken on more than one officer position throughout the years. Her dedication and commitment can be vouched for by her peers and professors alike.

Madden Mengwasser

Madden Mengwasser is an Energy Engineer II with the Energy Performance Contract Group out of Schneider Electric’s Energy and Sustainability Services division. Since graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Texas in 2016 with her Mechanical and Engineering degree and Mathematics minor, she has worked on over 15 Investment Grade Audits and saved her K-12 school district and city customers over $8.4M in lifecycle savings through various energy conservation measures and efficiency upgrades. She is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California. She currently serves as a Board Member and Student Chapter Liaison with the North Texas Association of Energy Engineers (NTAEE).

Nancy Umuhoza Nshuti is a Mechanical and Energy Engineering student at the University of North Texas. She was born and mostly raised in Kigali, Rwanda but also lived in Senegal, Kenya, Ethiopia, as well as the USA. Seeing the different cultures and associated struggles made her passionate to help her continent, which is where she grew the interest in renewable energy. Since then, that has been a big part of her journey to choosing to become an engineer. She joined UNT in 2017 and has been a part of the National Society of Black Engineers ever since, which she is now the President of. She has always been passionate about diversity and inclusion because of her background of moving around, and she always strives to inspire people in her community to "reach for the stars."

Christopher Kirk Miles Jr is a Research Scientist in the Integrated Fighter Group Program at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. At the University of North Texas, Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Energy Engineering (2017) and a Master of Business Administration in Information Technology (2019) while representing the university as a member of the football team. He also serves as the College Initiatives Chairman for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics National Society of Black Engineers Chapter. He is passionate about empowering underrepresented groups in engineering to cultivate and demonstrate excellence at all levels in the same way he was empowered at The University of North Texas.

Jessica Rider

Jessica Rider is a senior obtaining a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at the University of North Texas. She is the President of the Society of Women Engineers and conducts Undergraduate Research under Dr. Marcus Young on High Temperature Shape Memory Alloys. She completed an internship with GE Aviation as a Technical Intern in the summer of 2020, and is a co-author on a publication in Strain, an International Journal for Experimental Mechanics. She is passionate about SWE, empowering women in STEM, and advocating for diversity in engineering.

Michele Rodgers

Michele Rodgers is the Director of Business and Product Development at Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company.  Rodgers has twenty five years of  experience with the engineering and program management teams with PACCAR.  She currently serves as a board member for the Women in Trucking Association and as the UNT SWE’s counselor.  Rodgers holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Texas, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. Additionally, she is a licensed professional engineer.

Hector Siller

Hector R Siller is Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He is an enthusiast educator and researcher in manufacturing engineering, with experience in management of academic programs. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Manufacturing Systems from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico, and holds a Ph.D. in Innovation in Product and Process Engineering from University Jaume I in Spain. Before his appointment at UNT, he served as Research Professor, and  Program Director of Automotive Engineering (2011-2014) and Manufacturing Systems (2014-2017)  at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (Tecnologico de Monterrey), Mexico. He is author of more than 40 journal publications and leads the lab of Digital Manufacturing.
