Bathrooms to remain closed through May 10

The bathrooms on the north-west end of the building on the first and second levels will be closed for construction through May 10. Previously, the bathrooms were scheduled to be re-opened March 10. However, the deadline has been extended to allow construction crews to renovate the men’s and women’s bathrooms, which was recently added to the project contract.

Closure: Bathrooms and stairs

The bathrooms and the stairs on the north-west end of the building will be closed due to construction Feb. 18 through March 10. Construction crews will be removing the temporary walls in the area, painting, installing the storefront and flooring, and removing and installing the new ceiling. There will likely be noise and an odor in the area.

Feb. 18: Closure of stairs and bathrooms. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the stairs located near the cafeteria in the middle of the hallway or any of the elevators for access between floors. In the event of an emergency, students, faculty, and staff in the north-west area of the building should use the stairs located near the cafeteria.

Feb. 27: Students, faculty, and staff will be able to use the stairs for emergency access only. Students, faculty, and staff should use the stairs located in the middle of the hallway or any of the elevators for everyday access.

March 10: Stairs and bathrooms re-opened.

North-West Stair Closure 12/17-1/4

The stairs on the north-west end of the building will be closed due to construction Dec. 17 through Jan. 4. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the stairs located near the cafeteria in the middle of the hallway or any of the elevators for access between floors.

In the event of an emergency, students, faculty, and staff in the north-west area of the building should use the stairs located near the cafeteria.

Roofing to begin next week

Roofing will begin on the Biomedical Engineering building next week and continue through the next few weeks. During this time, faculty, staff, and students may notice an asphalt odor in the north-west end of the building.

Water Outage August 1 - 7 am - 9 am

Due to continued construction on the new Biomedical Engineering building, there will be a water outage on the 2nd floor of the College of Engineering Building on Wednesday, August 1, from 7 am until 9 am.

Pouring Concrete July 27

Sundt Construction will begin pouring concrete at 3 a.m. July 27 for the biomedical engineering building. Loud noise may be possible during this time.

Bathroom Closure 7-8 a.m. July 5

On July 5, construction crews will remove the water fountains located near the first floor women’s bathroom (K100) and second floor men’s bathroom (C238) on the north-west end of the building. In order to remove the fountains, they will need to shut the water valve off for approximately one hour from 7-8 a.m. Shutting the valve off will also shut down service to the first floor women’s bathroom (K100) and the second floor men’s bathroom (C238).

The water fountains will be replaced summer 2019.

Electrical Outage June 29

There will be a scheduled electrical outage from 1-5 p.m. Friday, July 29, to permanently repair lighting and power within the building. The area affected will be the north-west end of the building, in the tunnel, and on the first and second floor. Attached is a drawing of the impacted areas.

Bathroom Closure 7-8 a.m. June 28

On June 28, construction crews for the biomedical engineering building will need to close the first floor women’s restroom (K100) and second floor men’s restroom (C238) in the north-west end of the building. The closure will occur for one hour from 7-8 a.m.

Loud noise Saturday, June 23

Construction crews will be working Saturday, June 23, to prepare for the grade beam pour next week. Loud noise will occur throughout the day. Access to the building should not be impacted.

Hot Water Outage in Women's Bathroom

Construction crews for the Biomedical Engineering building will begin saw cutting this week, which requires them to shut off the water heater located in the custodial closet on the north-west end of the building. This will create a hot water outage in the first-floor women’s bathroom from June 15-19.

Construction on the new Biomedical Engineering building has begun

Construction on the new Biomedical Engineering building has begun. As part of it, destruction of the vestibule located at the north-west end of the building across from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering will begin Friday, May 25. Noise from the demolition will occur throughout the day.

A new route for entering and exiting the building has been created near the vestibule, and signs will be posted along the route. The new door and route is ADA accessible, but will not have electronic push buttons at the door. Accessible electronic doors are available at the front of the building near the College of Engineering Dean’s Office.
