Graduation Checklist | Graduate Studies

Step 1: Apply for Admission

Submit all required documents at least six weeks prior to registration.

Step 2: Prepare Degree Plan

Before registering for their first semester, students must meet with their graduate advisor to plan their course of study. Students should familiarize themselves with general graduate school regulations and offerings by reviewing the Graduate Catalog and class registration site.

Upon or before completing 12 semester hours, students must also identify their advisory committee, then prepare and submit their degree plan to the graduate school for approval.

Step 3: Prepare for Thesis

Prior to their last year of study, students should determine their department’s requirements and procedures for thesis presentations and final examinations, as well as the graduate school thesis policies. The thesis and all other final examinations must be filed during the student’s last semester of study.
