Virginia serves as an academic advisor for the College of Engineering. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University and has also received her Texas teaching certification for early childhood through fourth grade. She is also an active member of the National Academic Advising Association, and UNT’s University Counselors Advisors Network.

Before joining UNT's Engineering Advising Office, she interned at Texas A&M University under the Office of the Dean of Student Life,specifically the offices of Student Conduct Resolution Services and Alcohol & Drug Education Programs. She has also worked for Texas A&M's psychology department.
