Involvement in student organizations, especially organizations related to your field of study, has many benefits. In addition to providing a network of peers interested in similar areas, student organizations offer opportunities for leadership, exploring topics not covered in class, networking, and career exploration.
Many of the member organizations of the Council of Engineering Organizations are student branches of professional societies. Membership in these organizations often includes subscriptions to professional journals, discounts to conferences, and scholarship opportunities.
We encourage you to consult the member organizations of the Council of Engineering Organizations to find those that are interesting to you. Do not feel limited to organizations in your own department. Much of engineering is cross-disciplinary, and student organizations offer a simple way of getting a taste for many areas of engineering. We encourage you to get involved and to explore.
